How accurate is a valuation based only on photographs?

Photographs indicate only a direction and support an indicative range. Whether bamboo sticks have been inserted, the actual cross-section, and the degree of dryness must be checked piece by piece during an in-person inspection, so the on-site price may differ slightly from the initial estimate.

If the entire batch is very dry and some pieces are broken, will the deduction be severe?

Full dryness is positive, but too high a proportion of broken pieces reduces completeness and normally requires the broken and complete groups to be valued separately. Broken pieces are not necessarily without value, but their unit price will be lower.

Is there a large value difference between goods stored for two years and new goods?

Storage matters more than age alone. New goods that have absorbed moisture still warrant a deduction, while old goods that remain dry, complete, and retain their fungal aroma can still command a good buyback price.
