Product details
Review product grade, condition and valuation criteria to understand the factors that shape value.
A customer in Mong Kok had several boxes of Dragon-Tooth bird's nest given to the family by an elder years ago. They had sat untouched in a drawer for two or three years, and the customer now wanted to sell them to meet a household need. However, the customer was worried that the expensive purchase might have been weight-enhanced or bleached, so wanted to establish authenticity before deciding whether to sell. From the photographs, the cup shape and fibres appeared broadly consistent, so we arranged an in-person inspection. With gift-boxed goods, the last thing you want is a vague price followed by a different story on arrival, so any formal offer must be based on weighing the actual goods and inspecting every cup.
The conclusion first:If you need a Dragon-Tooth whole-cup authenticity assessment, do not begin by asking only, 'How much will you pay?' An initial photo review covers cup shape, fibre structure, dryness, and possible signs of coating or bleaching. If the goods merit an in-person inspection, we can then arrange a door-to-door or shop appointment. The actual offer still depends on checking every physical cup. Quoting a firm figure before authenticity is established is not meaningful.
During the in-person inspection, we pay particular attention to:For Dragon-Tooth whole cups, include the thickness of the base and the direction of the fibres; a photograph of only the front of the gift box is of little help. Close-ups are normally needed to see signs of coating, bleaching, or moisture exposure.
If you are not yet sure which grade your batch falls into, start with Key grading points before requesting a bird's-nest appraisal. The cup shape, dryness, and storage points explained there are exactly what we check item by item during an in-person inspection.
An appraisal is not based on simply calling something 'premium goods'; each feature is checked. Dragon-Tooth cups have a thicker base shaped like a dragon's tooth and especially robust fibres, which distinguish them from ordinary imperial bird's nest. In this case, we examined four things: a symmetrical boat-shaped cup, naturally robust fibres, a semi-translucent rather than stark-white appearance under light, and a faint egg-white aroma after soaking. The customer's batch had full cups, clear fibres, and a semi-translucent appearance under light, with no sign of coating or bleaching and a distinct egg-white aroma. They were authentic whole Dragon-Tooth cups. Based on the current wholesale market, the batch was valued at the upper-middle level, with the most complete cups commanding the strongest individual prices.
If convenient, first send us a WhatsApp message on 69035182 with photographs of the cup face and base, close-ups of the fibres, details of the box, the approximate weight, and the storage condition. We will first provide an indicative range and arrange an in-person inspection if the direction suits you.
Gift-boxed bird's nest is particularly prone to vague quotations, so before proceeding we always explain the breakdown clearly:
